1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Kasaneru ("the App") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

2. Data We Collect

Local Data (stored on your device; optionally synced to your own iCloud):
- Profile information (your selected purpose of use)
- Episodes and structured content
- Chat history
- App preferences (language, theme)

Data Sent to Third-Party Services:
- Conversation messages are sent to an external AI service to generate structured episodes
- Profile context (purpose of use) is included to improve AI responses

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect personal identification information on our servers
• We do not track your location
• We do not create user accounts or require registration

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data for the purpose of improving the App. This includes:
- Screen views and navigation patterns
- Feature usage events (e.g. episode creation)
- App performance metrics

This data is anonymized and cannot be used to identify individual users. No episode content, conversation data, or personal information is included in analytics data.

5. Subscriptions

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information. Apple's Privacy Policy applies to payment processing.

6. How We Use Data

• Conversation data is sent to an external AI service solely for content generation
• Data is not stored on our servers after the response is generated
• We do not use your data to train AI models
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties beyond the services described in this policy

7. Data Storage and Security

• By default, all persistent app data is stored only locally on your device
• All user-generated content (profile, episodes, chat history) is encrypted using iOS Keychain
• Non-sensitive preferences use standard device storage
• iCloud sync (optional, off by default): if you enable it in Settings, your episodes are stored in the private database of your own Apple Account iCloud and synced across your devices. That storage belongs to you; we do not receive, read, or store its contents on our servers. You can turn sync off at any time, and doing so deletes nothing. Data in iCloud is handled under Apple's privacy policy

8. Data Deletion

Since data is stored locally by default:
- Uninstalling the App removes all local data (with the exception that iOS Keychain data may persist; the App clears this on fresh install)
- You can delete individual episodes within the App
- With iCloud sync enabled, deleting an episode in the App also removes it from your iCloud. You can additionally manage or delete the synced data from your own iCloud settings (Settings > Apple Account > iCloud)

9. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:
- External AI Service: AI processing of conversation data, hosted on a cloud provider. We have configured the service to not retain your data after processing.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4): Anonymous usage analytics as described in Section 4.
- Apple App Store: Subscription and in-app purchase processing.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.

11. Requests Concerning Retained Personal Data

The App is local-first by design, and as a rule we retain no personal data on our servers. Nevertheless, we accept requests under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan for disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, and suspension of use of retained personal data, via the contact channel described in Section 12. To prevent impersonation, we will verify your identity by our prescribed method before processing a request.

A fee of JPY 1,000 (tax included) per request applies to requests for disclosure and requests for notification of the purpose of use. Payment instructions will be provided when we receive your request. No fee applies to requests for correction, addition, deletion, or suspension of use.
